For the price of a cheap McMansion in Wiscansin, you can buy yourself an entire racetrack for you and your friends.

It’s called Speedway Miramichi and for the low, low price of $249,900 CAD or $191,633.22 to be exact, you can be the outright owner of this 1/3 mile paved short track in New Brunswick, Canada. The realtor, Lisa Hare, listed this beauty earlier this week (Aug. 22, 2018) and true to her name as the “Drone Realtor” there are some overhead shots of this local race track. I’ve copied some of the photos below if you don’t want to make the jump.

Miramichi Speedway

This is as bare bones as most short tracks get with a couple of bathrooms, a few concession stands, and nary a shade awning in sight for anyone you invite to the stands.

This place isn’t without some gems. For one, there IS seating for 1,500, a small dirt track next to the paved track where you can run ATVs and dirt bikes, and there’s 36-acres of land earmarked with the track so if you’ve got goals for this facility, there’s room to grow. And just look at this place at night!

According to Lisa Hare,

In recent years this track has been hosting more venues than just races, which is exciting news for our area! Some of the venues this year include: Atlantic Strong Man Competition, NB ATV Federal Association event with bands, Tough Truck Challenge, Regular racing, Go-Carts, and sliding party. The only limitations for this site is your imagination!

Keep in mind that you are buying a local track with a bit of history attached to it. Speedway Miramichi first opened in 1968 exchanging owners and its name every couple of years. Despite all that, its been a mainstay for this Canadian province.

Here’s a bit of Stock car racing from back in June.

Contrary to popular belief, as far as short track racing in this Canadian province is concerned, it seems there were just one too many tracks in the area to compete with, contributing to this particular race venue closing in the first place. Here’s a quote from the raceway on why they postponed events indefinitely.

As per Speedway Miramichi,

One such factor was competition from other tracks. With other tracks planning similar events for the same day, management decided it was in the best interest of all parties, from tracks, to competitors, to spectators, to postpone the event.

There’s also some drama attached to this track closing, too but that’s another story. You can read about that in their blog post linked here.

The way I see it you can do one of two things. First, you can continue on the tradition of this great Speedway and host some of the same events they’ve been doing for the past 50 years, maybe throw some events of your own. You’ll be the local town hero.

Or, you can make this racetrack your own. With that crossover in the middle, this short track is already set up for a bit of drifting! I’ve filmed at a 1/4th mile short track in Stockton, Calif and look how well this V8 Subaru Impreza Wagon lays it down with so little real estate. Keep in mind, Miramichi is a 1/3rd mile. Some of the older locals will probably dislike you for not throwing events they can enjoy, too.

If you do decide to buy this place, don’t feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. It’s Canada! I scoped out the area in a five-mile radius and there’s a Tim Hortons, a McDonalds, movie theater, and a Wal-Mart.

And depending on how good an owner you are, expect to land in their local newspaper for better or for worse.
