Acura didn’t come to Monterey Car Week empty-handed. The updated NSX for 2019 is now even faster thanks to an updated chassis.

Acura didn’t have to update their halo car for 2019 but they did anyways. According to Acura in an official press release, they dropped earlier today (Aug. 24, 2018) with a simultaneous unveiling at Monterey Car Week, they’ve updated the Acura NSX for 2019 making it even faster, slightly better looking, and with more value even if you go for the base model.

When I say faster, Acura has tuned the chassis and the way its engine responds to driver inputs to get this already budget supercar slayer even faster around a track, enough improvements for a two second faster lap time around Honda’s 3.6-mile Suzuka Circuit. Known for being a track where you’re full throttle for 70 percent of the time, it’s no small feat.

The 2019 Acura NSX gets larger front and rear stabilizer bars that stiffen up the entire chassis, 21 percent stiffer rear toe link bushings, and an even more rigid rear hub. In response to this increased stiffness, “Software calibrations to the NSX’s Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® power unit, active magnetorheological dampers, electric power steering and VSA settings capitalize on this new hardware.”

Big news around all four corners is Continental Sport Contact 6 tires developed exclusively for the Acura NSX are now standard on all NSX’s with the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R’s still an option.

Outside, the most obvious new option is a new Thermal Orange Pearl premium paint option which follows Acura’s history of naming NSX colors after famous tracks. Thermal Club Raceway played a pivotal role for Acura when it launched its new NSX back in 2016.

I particularly liked the silver front grill garnish, but for 2019 Acura did away with the silver with a body color matching front grille.

Inside, you can get a blue Semi-aniline leather interior and if you want, can get your power sport seats wrapped in Red. Now, you have your choice of power sports seats or lightweight manually adjustable sports seats at no cost to you either way. Also standard is navigation, premium audio, front and rear proximity sensors and aluminum sport pedals.

Price increases a bit by $1,500 but, as mentioned, you get more for your dollar up front with once optional features as standard.

I’m curious to see a head to head battle between this updated NSX and a 2018 MY now. I’m sure some owners of the second gen NSX want these improvements on their NSX too.
