If you can break the world record in the marathon, you too can win yourself a 2019 Isuzu D-Max truck.

It’s an honor and oftentimes customary for car manufacturer to gift a new car to athletes that pull off feats that do their country proud and this is no different. As per a tweet from Isuzu Kenya from earlier today (Sept. 25, 2018) they’ve delivered on a promise to hand the keys to a 2019 Isuzu D-Max to Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge if he broke the world record in the marathon in Berlin. Check out the tweet for yourself below.

If you didn’t already know, another world record in the Men’s marathon bit the dust earlier this month as running phenom Eliud Kipchoge ran himself into the history books running a 2:01:39 shattering the previous record of 2:02:57 held by his fellow countryman Dennis Kimetto.

With the Berlin marathon being the home of world record efforts thanks to Germany’s temperate climate and flat course layout, Isuzu Kenya knew there was an opportunity to be had to get their name out there ahead of presumably what could be a World Record performance. Isuzu of East Africa renewed an existing partnership they had with the champ.

I have a feeling that Isuzu would’ve gifted the truck to the WR breaking runner if he finished first or tenth because he’s already done so much for the country known for its runners so its a wonderful token of appreciation nonetheless.

The Isuzu D-Max is a fine truck built and engineered by Isuzu Motors since 2002 and has been badge engineered into all sorts of variants, most notably the Chevrolet Colorado in the United States. The latest generation, however, is a partly engineered by General Motors taking its chassis from the said Chevrolet Colorado but utilizing an all Isuzu powertrain. Whatever configuration you get, it’s going to be a rough and ready truck, now, worthy of a record-setting marathon performance.

Congrats to Eliud and hat tip to Isuzu of East Africa for delivering on a promise.
