Tesla dropped a mid-range Tesla Model 3 with 260 miles of range that’s available now.

It looks like Tesla is trying its best to squeeze in a couple more orders for Tesla Model 3’s for people who can’t finance the $54,000 for a RWD long-range version but may be willing to pay above the $35,000 base price they were hoping for that’s yet to be seen. Earlier this week (Oct. 19, 2018) Elon Musk took to Twitter to announce a new mid-range Tesla Model 3. Priced at $45,000 before any savings, it’s the cheapest Tesla Model 3 available.

On their order page, Tesla states that with the $7500 Federal Tax Credit, the $2500 California Incentive, and the $4300 potential fuel savings, you’re really paying just $30,700 before destination and doc fees, which is true…sort of.

There is a small catch. You must buy your mid-range Tesla Model 3 before January 1, 2019, which, at that moment, the full federal tax credit gets cut in half from $7,500 to just $3,750, which is still a lot.

The Verge further reports that if you wait even longer, until July 1, 2019, your federal tax credit gets cut even further to just $1,875, still, better than nothing.

If you decided to buy your Tesla Model 3 on January 1, 2020 and don’t live in California, you get zero incentives from the U.S. Government with nothing to deduct from your taxes.

Despite all the dangling incentives, the mid-range Tesla Model 3 looks to be an OK value for what you get. This particular model is the RWD model, not the AWD dual motor one. Despite that, it’s still plenty quick with 0-60 MPH in just 5.6 seconds, a top speed of 125 MPH, and an EPA rated range of 260 miles which still slots this Tesla Model 3 into a solid weekend getaway vehicle.

Unlike the more expensive Tesla Model 3’s where you only have to wait between 4-8 weeks, for this cheaper one, you’ll have to wait between 6-10 weeks, which isn’t all that bad. Then again, Tesla isn’t exactly known for its prompt delivery dates.

Musk was quick to reply that, if for any reason you’re not happy, you get a full-refund. Try that with any other car maker and you might as well attempt to fly to Mars on your own, it’s not going to happen.

The Tesla Model 3 mid-range is here so maybe treat yourself in time for Christmas.
