Pricing hasn’t been officially announced for the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N but it looks like some video journalists already “leaked” that information out there.

If you’re looking for the performance bargain of the year when it comes to small FWD hot hatches in the United States, it’s the Korean’s that take the cake as per usual. According to Redline Reviews hot off the press launch of the 2019 Hyundai Veloster N earlier this week (Oct. 26,2018), which, by the way, looks to be a real hoot, it looks like the Base Veloster N starts at just $27,999 with the bargain Performance Package priced at $2,000 more (or $1,999) whichever sounds better to you. That means you can have the hottest Veloster N ever for just a tick under $30,000, an absolute bargain. Check out their video below, it’s a real eye opener. Pricing is mentioned at 31:11!

The tail of the tape for the Base N and Performance Package N should be enough for shoppers looking at such cars like the Focus ST, VW Golf GTI, and, more importantly, the Honda Civic Type R, to really consider this Veloster N.

The Base N uses a turbocharged 2.0L Theta inline four-cylinder from the Hyundai Sonata and benefits from a lower compression ratio and a larger turbo. Power comes in at a staggering 250 HP and 260 lb-ft.

If you opt for the $2,000 performance package you get a power bump to 275 HP and 260 lb-ft thanks to an ECU upgrade that maintains the reliability of this engine. In addition, you get one-inch bigger wheels and tires, which are specially developed Pirelli P-Zero’s by the way. Also, bigger brakes all around, a more free-flowing exhaust, a slightly different final ratio for the transmission, a shorter front stabilizer bar and ride height lowered by .2 inches come with the upgrade.

Let’s face it. If you do decide between its competitors like the Honda Civic Type R, you’ll get people saying that it’s woefully underpowered compared to the competition. But, at this price point, will you really feel that difference from your butt dyno if and when you do take it to the track?

Probably only very slightly.
