For about $700 more compared to last year’s Hyundai Tucson, you get slightly more value with SmartSense now standard.

The 2019 Hyundai Tucson enters 2019 with a little bit more value behind its name despite a slightly higher base MSRP. As per Hyundai in an official press release they dropped earlier this week (Oct. 26,2018) Hyundai unveiled a slightly fresher looking and updated Tucson, one that should make it competitive enough in a highly contested market. Standard on all Tucsons is Hyundai’s suite of safety technology dubbed SmartSense.

For 2019, Hyundai simplified the Tucson lineup making it that much easier for customers. The biggest news is that Hyundai axed the 1.6 liter turbocharged engine in favor of just two naturally aspirated powertrains, its 2.0L and 2.4L GDI offerings.

The tail of the tape for the engines choices are adeuquate enough. Standard is the 2.0L GDI which makes a healthy 164 HP and 151 lb-ft. Optional is the 2.4L GDI engine with 181 HP and 175 lb-ft.

As mentioned, all Tucsons now come with SmartSense, that means you get Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Warning which should all bode well for the Tucson when the NHTSA releases its safety ratings for this crossover.

The biggest change out front is Hyundai’s new “Cascading grille” which, compared to 2018’s front face, isn’t all that much noticeable of a change. Wheels get a redesign as well. In addition, headlights, front and rear fascia, taillights and even the exhaust finish all get new designs.

Inside, the center stack, panel vents, leather seats, rearview mirror and cluster get noticeable changes

Next to the Elantra, the Hyundai Tucson is Hyundai of North America’s most sold car with Hyundai moving 114,735 Tucsons last year alone. With over 103,000 Tucsons already sold for 2018, Hyundai is on track to break that record.

Crossover shoppers today want something that’s not a sedan, has enough utility and power but more importantly, looks good. The Tucson delivers on all of that for a bargain of a price.

I fully expect Hyundai to sell even more of these Tucsons in 2019.

Also, it would behoove you to check out the discounts available for last year’s model if you want to snag one up before the New Year as dealerships will be trying their best to unload all their old stock.
