It looks like Cars.com dropped their first look video a few hours early and this is the 2019 Honda Passport, AKA a shortened Honda Pilot.

Update: Honda dropped its official press release and photos are updated below!

Bare with us as we only have this screenshot of a deleted video from Youtube but what you’re looking at is the 2019 Honda Passport before it debuts in a few hours. We’ll also update this post with official photos once they drop but we already know what it looks like and we have the engine and transmission specs, so a good amount of information on the 2019 Honda Passport.

The big news we gleaned from people who watched the video before it was deleted is that Honda is going to stuff the same engine and transmission setup as the Honda Pilot Elite into the 2019 Honda Passport so we’re looking at 280 HP and 262 lb-ft. Standard on the Passport is the ZF 9HP automatic also found in the Euro CR-V, Pilot, Chinese Avancier and Odyssey.

As far as looks, as mentioned we only have that one photo but if you take a Honda Pilot and shorten the rear end, that’s it, the 2019 Honda Passport.

Honda will sell the capabilities of this Honda Passport and it looks like this SUV has some serious off-roading chops. Compared to the Pilot which it’s based on, this Passport has a significant lift over the Pilot by several inches. I can only assume around all four corners Honda equipped this Passport with beefier struts and springs to handle a bit more off-roading. Cars.com got it hands on one of the more well-equipped Passports but this one is sporting a wheel and tire combo that’s more suited for on-road driving than roughing it up so expect the base model so expect Honda to really upsell its modifiable capabilities.

Unlike Honda to do, there will be a plethora of accessories to make the 2019 Honda Passport your own like the roof basket you see in the photo above.

I really got my hopes up for this Passport and it sort of delivers on the hype. Honda is bringing to market a capable SUV that will cater to Honda fans that low-key want something a bit more off-roady but are loyal to the Honda brand enough to not want to switch to another brand altogether.

The Honda Passport is for small families and the like who want an SUV but something more capable than a CR-V but not as large as the Pilot.

We’ll see how customers react when they hit the showroom floors early next year.
