This Integra’s been through a flood, multiple owners, has almost 100,000 miles on the odometer and has body damage beyond recognition yet someone still bought it for several thousand dollars.
We’ll all seen those record auctions Acura Integra Type R where these mint examples sell for exorbitant amounts. 90’s JDM cars in mint condition are selling for a pretty penny with the best of the breed earning top dollar right now. The record for the ITR is $63,800.
But, what about the opposite end of the spectrum? What about an Acura Integra Type R so beat, it’s held together with tape? Enter this 2001 Acura Integra which sold on eBay earlier today (Nov. 28, 2018) for a whopping $7,300.

First, what’s right with this Type R.
Everything’s numbers matching meaning the engine, transmission and all the body panels are OEM and have the same VIN #’s as it came from the factory. That goes for the wheels, interior pieces etc. It’s a complete and legit Acura Integra Type R.
Then there’s the mileage. Under 100,000 miles is OK and is usually the limit for any used car whereas, beyond that number, the for sale price takes a hit.
And then there’s the question of paperwork. Yes, it’ salvage title, but this owner’s got all the right paperwork, registration, and it’s road legal according to the state of Illinois.
Now, the bad.
This car’s been in an actual flood whereas it was pulled out, cleaned, wrenched on and revived. Here’s a screenshot of the vehicle history report where it says just that. And the story checks out, according to the Journal Star, in 2013, there was indeed a historic flood in Illinois.
The owner then goes through everything he knows is wrong including
- An unknown clutch issue
- Air Conditioning does not work
- The overall condition of the body is described as poor.
- Many of the body panels have been mended with Gorilla tape and zip ties.
- Clear coat failure on the body panels means a full respray is the only way to return the paint to better shape.
- The engine is modified with a different cam, tune, and has a hot air intake, telltale signs it’s had a rough life.
- There is evidence of surface rust between the body panel
And I’m sure the winning buyer will spot a handful of other notable things wrong with this Type R when he takes delivery.
But, despite it all, it’s still an honest to goodness Acura Integra Type R which there are only a limited number of. As per the unofficial registry of Integra Type R’s the United States only got about 3,800 ITR’s which is a lot or a little depending on how much of an enthusiast you are. Not to mention the Integra Type R has a race winning history in the United States, (e.g. Real Time Racing) and is considered to be the best FWD chassis in history.
I don’t think $7,300 is that crazy of a winning bid on a damaged Integra Type R. With all the hype surrounding these cars and its limited number, I can understand dropping that much money.
But I sure wouldn’t. $7,300 buys a lot of used car.

Looks as if the person/owner is now on the third listing of this R, because of GOOFS jumping the gun, and bidding on a dream they cant afford..It didn’t sell for $7300, bids now up to $3250 as of 1/5/19 FYI
