What better way to celebrate the holidays than with a soft plushy reminder that conditions on Bay Area’s favorite form of public transportation could be better.

A couple of people on Twitter though BART’s new soft plushy wasn’t accurate enough. As per several commenters on Twitter earlier this week (Nov. 28, 2018) they took the opportunity to completely drag BART for the various problems that plague the light rail transit system as of late including homelessness, drugs, violence, and people using the trains as bathrooms. BART, taking the upper ground to improve their image, responded to most of these tweets as kindly as possible if you click on the replies.

Here’s a selection of the best tweets and replies below.

I don’t really blame the fine people of Twitter for going after BART like this. SF Chronicle reports that,

BART’s total violent crime — a less volatile and more useful measure than homicides alone — has risen dramatically over the past decade.

…not to mention the issues with homeless people making the trains their homes, people brazenly smoking crystal meth along with other drugs, and the overall deplorable conditions of a few stations. People are going to understandably be upset, which is why this plushy is sort of a slap in the face for some commuters. How is BART going to pass off their trains as something playful, lovable, and, harmless?

Then again, it’s just a nice plushy, most people taking BART have an OK experience every day, and BART is doing the best they can at the moment to rectify their biggest problems.

The plushies are only $10 but you can’t buy them online. You’ll have to take a train or huff it to BART’s Lake Merritt station to buy one. Read into that as much as you’d like, Twitter.
