A heavy camo’d Acura in the shape of a TLX  was caught on video cruising on Interstate 110 near Torrance.

We know Acura is either ready to drop a new generation of the TLX or, at the very least will come out with a Type S variant by year’s end. As far as camoflauged TLX’s go, this one might take the cake for being the most covered. Earlier late last month, SoCal resident Douglas Haley caught this Acura TLX test mule on Interstate 110 presumably near his home in Lomita. I only mention Torrance above as it’s Honda HQ in California.

In contrast to other TLX test mules, heavy camo hints that this particular variant might be the most production-ready 2020 TLX yet.

Check out the video for yourself below. If you’d like to see the video in all its HD glory before Facebook butchers the quality, watch the source vid here.

If the wheels are anything to go by, they match the same wheels of that mystery TLX spotted by a Jalopnik reader in Malibu over a year ago and another TLX test mule with a turquoise front end and Michigan plates, spy photos via Motor1.

Those test mules both sported some chintzy bolted on rear fenders to accommodate presumably a wider tire setup. Speculators like yours truly are taking that as a sign that this test mule spotted on Harbor Freeway is a more refined version of the previous two, a performance-oriented version, or the aforementioned Type S if you will.

Keen eyes will notice the golden glow of halogens, which you’re right, although it’s common for test mules to run halogens for simplicity and aren’t representative of the final product.

Around the time the first TLX mules were spotted, I already blogged my thoughts about how fast this TLX Type S will be, upwards of 350 HP thanks to Acura’s confirmed V6 Turbo.

Acura is already on the record that they’re bringing out a production-ready sedan in line with the Precision Concept model from 2016 during Monterey Car Week Who knows if they’re also debuting this hotter Type S TLX as well.

Can you spot anything in this latest test mule that I might’ve missed? Do you think think this is the Type S? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. I really hope Acura brings the type S name to other Acura models, especially if they did one for the ILX, and what would make it better is if could come with a dare I say, manual transmission. I’d love to see it be in middle of the si and type R in power, like 260ish HP
The si doesn’t have enough power and the Type R is too flashy for me, and i love the feel of Honda’s MT’s, I have a 04 Acura TL 3.2 with a MT and I’d love a modern version of it but there is no way they’d make the TLX type S with a MT especially if it does have the turbo V6
