This motorist in the Philippines thought he could flaunt authorities, posting a video of himself driving from the passenger seat. This scofflaw thought wrong.

Video surfaced earlier today (May 28, 2019) showing a driver in the Philippines operating an automatic car from the front passenger seat, opposite the driver’s seat. It was later revealed that the driver in the video posted the video himself, on his own timeline. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

Filipinos, being the social media savvy individuals that they are, reposted his video to a handful of Filipino motoring groups, even going so far as tagging the actual Philippines Department of Transportation.

As you can imagine, whoever runs the Philippines DOT probably also has an online presence on Facebook because not only did they repost the video condemning the act of motoring stupidity, they also got statements from higher-ups that they’d prosecute this driver to the full extent of the law.

The driver, ID’d as one Mike Justo, will, according to the Philippines DOT, have his license stripped and can no longer apply for a driver’s license in the future citing that he’s a danger to himself and to others around him.

Let this be a stern warning to everyone else. We enjoin the citizenry to report these kinds of violations and we will act on it swiftly.

I don’t know what this Mike Justo fellow expected from his hijinks. In all likelihood with 99 percent of videos doing something this foolish, the man just wanted internet attention. Well, he certainly got it, and from the authorities too.

Kudos to the Philippines DOT responding like they did, in a timely, and quick manner.

If only this sort of swift justice could be a thing with all motoring DOT’s around the world.
