Warning! The video below is extremely graphic,it’s equal parts “nature is metal” and “LA Motorists really being doing the most.”

Los Angeles police had their hands full last night, answering to one of the strangest calls they probably got all weekend. According to a video posted by ANGNews via Instagram earlier yesterday (June. 18, 2019) calls came into emergency services about an injured deer spotted off the 405 freeway in Los Angeles right before Sunset Blvd.

Here’s the video below. Like I said, if you’ve got a weak stomach or aren’t prepared for how metal nature can be, I’d advise you not to watch the video. If you’re on the fence if you want to click play, read my description of what happened below.

Police are seen parked on the side of the freeway with the reds and blues without tunes in full effect, trying to warn motorists of a hazard that might come their way. Off-camera, a deer with three full legs, the other ripped off and dangling by its muscles, hops across the freeway in an attempt to flee the predator that attacked it.

Los Angeles motorists, oblivious to any sort of animal coming across their path of travel, strikes the deer at speeds in excess of 70 MPH, striking a mortal blow and ultimately killing the deer.

Police use an interceptor to drag the deer to the other side of the freeway, out of motorists way. As per the caption, animal control was brought in to deal with the carcass.

It was later determined that a bobcat was the cause of this deer’s initial injury. If by some miracle, animal control surrounded, tranquilized, and hauled, the deer off, perhaps it would’ve gotten a second chance at life.

That’s not what happened in this situation.

Here’s that section of the 405 on Google Maps.

Some people think that living in Los Angeles, they’re somehow immune to the greater outdoors and animals wouldn’t dare make their way into places inhabited by humans. That’s simply not true.

Zoom out of Los Angeles and L.A. is a stone’s throw from major wilderness parks. According to INaturalist.org, urban deer is a thing and have been spotted throughout Los Angeles and its surrounding cities.

And predators, like bobcats, have to eat. Thus your chances of seeing an injured deer in Los Angeles aren’t out of the realm of possibility.

It’s a shame, though, that deer get hit by cars in the first place.

If you’re a Los Angeles driver, keep your head on a swivel at all times. Yes, even deer can dart across the 405 in front of your Corolla.
