Chevrolet dropped an estimate when the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray goes on sale.Updates with specifics as they come in.
As of this writing, anyone who wants to pre-order a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray can do so through Chevrolet.com.
According to Chevrolet’s terms and service agreement you’ll eventually click through, this reservation form will get you in contact with a participating Chevrolet dealership near you and there is no contract to buy a car, yet.
Only when that dealership confirms how you want to configure your Stingray and provides you with pricing will that dealership ask you to reserve a Stingray with some sort of deposit and electronically signed agreement.
If you don’t confirm your reservation within a week, Chevrolet will drop your reservation for you.
Production and delivery to dealer lots
For people that would like to just walk up to a dealership and buy one, that’s another story.
According to Chevrolet in their press release,
The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray goes into production at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly in late 2019. Additional pricing and packaging information will be shared closer to launch.
Late 2019 realistically means in the latter half of the fourth quarter this year. I’d guess production will start in November with actual mid-engined Stingray’s making their way to dealerships just in time for Christmas 2019.
Of course, the first ones made will go to those that already successfully reserved one through their order form linked above before Bowling Green starts really churning them out.
Some quick facts
As per their press release, Chevrolet will probably come out with a Z06, and ZR1 in due time.
MSRP is a hair under $60,000.
At the heart of base Stingray’s is a 6.2L V8 Chevrolet Smallblock that puts out an impressive 495 HP at 6450 RPM and 470 lb-ft at 637 lb-ft.
Corvette says a sub-three second 0-60 MPH is well within range and some auto journalists already say they’ve heard this base model Stingray hitting 2.8 seconds which is unreal.
The new mid-engined Stingray is here, ladies and gents. If you really want one, reserve one ASAP. If not, wait for a couple of months before they go into production.
