This Porsche Taycan tried to pick a fight with a Tesla Model S P100D on the German Autobahn and lost in the worst way possible.

When it comes to high-speed duals on the German Autobahn with Porsche and Tesla, mark one for the Model S. Footage re-emerged earlier this week of a meeting between both electric juggernauts on an unrestricted speed section of the German Autobahn, a Porsche Taycan snuck up on a Tesla Model S P100D at maximum attack.

Check out there meeting and attempt at overtake in the video below.

If you’ve seen the video, you’ll know that my title was a bit cheeky. It’s not that the Porsche Taycan didn’t have a fighting chance, far from it, it’s just that this Porsche Taycan was on the tail end of its charge. At one point in the dual, the Porsche only had 19 miles of range left, sort of an emergency in the middle of Germany.

It’s a pretty epic meetup, the Porsche Taycan has an indicated speed of 155 MPH, a hair near its actual Top Speed of 161 MPH. Those in the comments are throwing their hat in the ring for the Taycan, at full charge, to eventually overtake the Tesla Model S P100D.

I’ve listed the tail of the tape between the two cars below. Both the Taycan Turbo S and the Model S Performance were obviously benchmarked against each other.

The Tesla Model S P100D nips ahead against the Taycan Turbo S when it comes to the dash to 60 MPH, Top speed, and range. One of the few places the Tesla Model S falls short is the estimated torque. Then again, at the top end, both electric cars torque ratings have fallen off.

If you’re in a high-end electric car on the German autobahn, make sure you’ve got plenty of charge in the batteries before taking on fellow juggernauts of speed.

The Taycan can potentially charge up to 80 percent in 15 minutes given the right charger.
