The royal mail lorry driver claims he did not see Jack’s VW GTI being pushed in front of him.

A truly bizarre accident played out in London earlier today. According to Car Throttle’s Alex Kersten in response to a viral video circulating these past few hours, Alex confirmed that the VW GTI being dragged by a Royal Mail Lorry driver is owned by Car Throttle’s video producer Jack Joy.

Check out the video he’s posted on Twitter below.

And here’s a slightly longer video with better resolution.

And that’s not even the craziest part. UK Pop singer Ellie Goulding and her driver was in the area at the time of the accident and pulled over to offer some kind of help, presumably checking in on the welfare of Jack. You can see her pop in on the second video, poking around and giving the entire situation an ocular assessment.

Supposedly the lorry driver was traveling in the fast lane, signaled, and changed lanes into the non-passing lane , allegedly not seeing Jack’s VW GTI in front of him.

A few Twitter users pointed out the obvious that the VW GTI was probably in the lorry driver’s blind spot but others also highlighted the even more obvious, the truck’s mirrors, used to check blind spots before making lane changes.

You’d either have to be deaf, blind, or a combination of the two not to see or hear the crunching of sheet metal as you collided with a VW GTI in front of you, not to mention the screeching of tires and the gradual slowing of your truck as it pushes a car.

I think this is a case of poor driving and not paying attention. Side mirrors exist for a reason and if this lorry driver used them properly, this whole situation could’ve been avoided.

Thankfully, Jack and the lorry driver weren’t injured or even hurt. The VW Golf GTI is another story, most likely a writeoff at this point.

And thanks Ellie, I guess?
