These CAS attendees and Nissan fans thought they’d be getting a once-in-a-lifetime photo with a rare edition of the GT-R and in a weird, convoluted way, they got just that.

When Nissan, a multi-billion dollar car company, asks if you want a photo taken next to their six-digit supercar, you expect a professional-looking keepsake, even though it’s just some free digital swag. Chicago Auto Show Attendee Darek Konopka got a photo next to the $123,000 Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition at the Chicago Auto Show and, when he got home to check his e-mail, what he got from Nissan wasn’t remotely professional.

Sure, he got a photo with a GT-R, except it was some weird digital photoshopped version even though he was standing next to the real thing.

Here’s the car at the CAS Nissan was trying to promote with no one in front of it. It’s a regular GT-R with some wheels and graphics for an additional $10,000. Next to the NISMO GT-R, this is their most expensive model.

And check out a photo from Nissan below. Keep in mind Darek is an ACTUAL photog, so he knows what bad photos look like.

According to another attendee at the show, “I can vouch that they (Nissan booth employees) were doing this (quick photoshop) at the Nissan booth.”

It looks like Nissan was using a simple cut-and-paste photoshop type of app, probably something you can run off an iPad, that inserts you into a virtual starting grid with their GT-R.

It just looks…bad.

For one, the scale between you and the car is wrong as evidenced from Jonathan’s kid. The GT-R isn’t that large compared to his kid.

Then there’s the pixilated version of the GT-R versus the real thing. Sure, this would make sense if you didn’t have the actual car there, but the darn thing was ACTUALLY there for gawd’s sakes. It would’ve been more professional looking to take a photo with CAS attendees’ phones instead.

Is Nissan just trolling us? Is it so bad that it’s kind of good? Is Nissan’s budget so bad they can’t afford a real photoshop artist? I’m sure Nissan won’t buy their photoshop apps from Fiverr the day before anymore.

Where you at the show and got some weird photos from Nissan? Let me know in the comments below.
