This is some of the clearest, high-def video of the camo’d Acura TLX Type-S to date.

A whole slew of photos and one video showing at least two of Acura’s Type S models popped up seemingly overnight with the video showcasing major tire and wheel information for the TLX Type S. According to VTEC.net and Acura enthusiast Iradier Covarrubias, the Acura MDX and TLX Type-S were spied roaming the streets of St. Paul Minnesota and Torrance, California (a stone’s throw away from Honda HQ.) Check out a bunch of photos and that one video below.

For the Acura MDX Type-S we can see the signature taillights from the Acura TLX Type S concept have made their way onto this MDX hinting at this will be a signature touch for all Acura vehicles moving forward.

But onto the Acura TLX Type-S.

First, those gigantic front brakes. These are definitely multi-piston brakes, in line with the Type S concept which sports four piston Bremo brakes clamping down on drilled rotors.

This camo’d TLX Type S is sporting solid rotors.

Multi-piston calipers is also in line with the 2007-2008 Acura TL Type S which also got four-piston Brembo calipers up front among a host of performance upgrades.

The current TLX only has dual piston calipers.

At first I thought these wheels were Acura NSX Y-Style wheels but I’m guessing the simplest answer is that these are Acura NSX wheels.

The current specs on the wildest wheel and tire combo on the 2020 Acura TLX A-Spec is a 245/40/19 Michelin Primacy MXM4 all-season tire on a 19×8 wheel.

The Acura TLX Type S Concept bumps those rookie numbers up to a 285 mm wide tire on a 21-inch wheel. Obviously, Acura will dial those numbers down for production, which leads us to these bad boys on this camo’d TLX Type S.

The front wheel and tire specs for the Acura NSX are 245/35/19 on 19×8.5 wheels wrapped around Continental Sport Contact 6 High Performance Tires, a modest bump up for the current 2020 Acura TLX.

Swapping over NSX’s 19×8.5 wheel onto another platform isn’t even new news. According to Graham Rahal Performance, Civic Type R owners seem to love going one inch smaller with the NSX wheels, the offset matching well with the Civics.

Popular choice for your Civic Type R, these Acura NSX Front Y-Spoke wheels fit all four wheels perfectly. Reduce your rotating mass, give a more aggressive stance, and get more sidewall on your CTR for better ride and performance!

A strong wheel, tire, and brake combo all bodes well for the upcoming Acura TLX and TLX Type S. I don’t remember who said it but a well engineered sports car starts with the wheels and tires, and for this camo’d TLX Type S, it shows.

With a bespoke turbo V6 engine, SH-AWD, and lots of NSX bits, this TLX Type S, and to an extent, the TLX, is shaping up to be an NSX in sedan form, a real winner.

As per several separate Acura dealerships on Reddit, the new TLX won’t be out till August 2020 with the Type S by the end of the year. We can also expect the all new MDX to debut in 2021.

Now, we only have to wait for where exactly Acura will debut these new models.
