Rare Ferrari F40 spotted street-parked supposedly overnight in Mountain View

With a giant spoiler and bright Rosso Corsa paint, this supercar stuck out like a sore thumb, street parked in this normal Mt. View neighborhood.

When Santa Clara resident Mark Zhukov drove through this Mountain View, Calif neighborhood he couldn’t believe his eyes. Something bright red and valued upwards of $1.5 million was spotted parallel parked on this quiet neighborhood street. And, with morning condensation still visible in the interior windows and glazed on the headlights, those who first saw these photos think this Ferrari F40 owner left it like that overnight, no big deal.

Sandwiched between a Mazda CX-30 crossover and a Jeep Wrangler behind it, you can tell those drivers knew this car is something special and should give it plenty of space to get out when the owner needs to leave.

According to the Facebook thread where this post was first spotted, several commenters just couldn’t believe someone would park something so expensive like that claiming that it’s a fake and this is most likely a very well-done kit car on some Pontiac Fiero. But, those in the know put two and two together and recognized this particular Ferrari, its authenticity, and even linked to some articles documenting its illustrious history. I’m not going to link those articles here but, based on context clues alone, I’m sure you can figure it out.

Bay Area residents have spotted this Ferrari F40 owner more than once, citing the owners takes his time to show up at a handful of local car shows, from ’80s an ’90s era specific events to concourse type meetsups.

We celebrate exotic owners who do uncommon or everyday errands with their supercars. It reminds us that things are just things and ultimately we have to enjoy them because we can’t take it with us. This owner is thoroughly enjoying his million dollar exotic to the fullest and not stuffing it away in some dimly lit corner. Who cares if the sun might yellow the rear plexiglass a bit, these are racecars for the road.
