An empty freeway for a background, can you blame him for stopping his car and taking a chance on an epic photo?

A Mazda 2 owner in Thailand might regret taking advantage of a middle of the night photoshoot. Thai authorities caught this night car photog on CCTV stopping his car in the middle of a freeway somewhere in Bangkok and are considering throwing the book at him which means fines and jail time. He wouldn’t have got away with it if it weren’t for him bragging on social media, posting up his photos shortly after his exploits.

Check out the hilarious CCTV footage below including a screenshot of the final results that might mean several nights in the slammer below.

According to The Thaiger, The Thai Government imposed a strict no-travel curfew for non-essential activities between the hours of 10 P.M. and 4 A.M. meant strictly to slow the spread of coronavirus. Keen eyes will notice this CCTV footage is from Mar. 29, ahead of this announcement so, while this man did not break curfew, stopping in the middle of the roads for no reason, especially without pulling into a breakdown lane, is strictly probably verboten.

This Mazda 2 owner knew people are traveling less and took advantage of a global crisis to snap a couple of car photos for that proverbial “drop of clout.”

You can see in the video how quickly he gets out of his car, making sure there are no cars headed his direction. Cars traveling at highway speeds and not seeing him in time might’ve spelled disaster.

All Street’s video says if this guy stopped his car while there was a curfew going on he would’ve got slapped with an equivalent $1,800 fine or up to two years in jail. But, seeing how this was before the curfew, that new rule doesn’t apply.

Still, the Expressway Authority of Thailand is keen to have a word with this Mazda 2 owner and might slap him with a traffic fine, anyway.

If you’re going to take a photo somewhere well known, you should be smart enough to know there might be cameras watching your every move.

I’m hoping he gets off scot free. No harm, no foul.
