As the lady who caught this inane yell fest on camera put it, “What a sad state of affairs.”

Everyone doesn’t have to leave the house in a chipper mood but no one should ever project their rotten attitudes on someone else, especially on an elder, no less. According to Anchorage, Alaska GameStop associate Kimberly Apland and her video that’s now gone viral, an Alaskan teen took the only front row parking spot in front of an AT&T store off Muldon Row. The only problem was a double-parked Ford Explorer meant he could exit out of his car but blocked the Explorer driver entry from their driver’s side.

When Jonathan entered the AT&T store to confront the double-parked Explorer owner, only then did he find out that the Explorer driver was an elderly woman who needed to take up two spaces because of the lack of proper disabled parking. Taking up two spaces ensured she could open her driver’s door fully, making it easier to enter and exit her SUV.

Here’s the video that’s gone viral below.

As the video shows, at this point in the altercation the elderly lady requested that Jonathan move his Chevrolet Cruze first so she could back up and leave but Jonathan insists that she leave first, watching her struggle through her front door as best she could.

Throughout the entire video Jonathan can be heard using foul language directed towards the elderly lady. Only after she leaves does Jonathan get into his Chevrolet Cruze before he drives off.

As the lady filming pointed out, there was an entire parking lot filled with empty spaces behind him where he could’ve first parked. Insistent on getting his usual princess parking, or parking right in front of a store, he put himself into an awkward position where this could’ve all been avoided.

According to Kimberly,

It’s a sad state of affairs. I was just so pissed that something so small made him lose it. Alaska people share this. Public shaming will hopefully deter this kind of behavior.

Here’s a screenshot of the parking lot in question with the parking in front of the AT&T store highlighted including the only handicapped parking spot available for that entire strip of stores also highlighted, in pink.

In the video comments it was leaked that Jonathan’s parents are both local business owners themselves and, only after Jonathan’s parents businesses started receiving negative backlash on their Facebook pages did Jonathan himself issue a video apology on his personal Facebook page.

Straight from Jonathan’s mouth,

A lot of people don’t like me because of what I did to that old lady. Honestly, I didn’t do anything but verbally abuse her…It’s something I could’ve handled better. Maybe this is my arrogance of being young and not knowing anything to really do better.

Don’t take it out on my family. Don’t take it out on anyone that I love, just take it out on me because clearly I’m the one that said that, not them.

I’d also like to make a point that, although everyone agrees that what he did was verbal abuse, he himself admits that he verbally abused this lady.

Several commenters suggested that Jonathan find this lady and apologize to her and, according to Jonathan, “I said that in the comments somewhere. Ima own up to it.”

What he did was 100 percent wrong and probably the only reason he feels sorry for his actions and even posted an apology video is because he was caught in the act. An apology and being self aware that what you did was wrong is a tiny step in the right direction and I hope he fully apologizes to that lady, soon.

This unfortunate incident does also highlight the need for more disabled parking in that area. As highlighted above, if there was a legit disabled parking spot in front of that AT&T store, this lady wouldn’t feel the need to take up two spots so she could comfortably get in and out.

Perhaps petitioning for an additional disabled parking spot in this area, including his apology, would be something concrete Jonathan could do, so something good can come out of this poor showing.

  1. This young man has a history of being abusive to women as was said in the comments made by woman he went to high school with. He is used to acting this way and still does not see the gravity of what he has done. Any abuse is abuse and he should be charged with domestic violence on a elder. Despite his parents business getting backlash it’s rightly so they raised this boy to be a disrespectful, entitled monster… they should feel the shame of their sons behavior. His video apology is a farce and only adds to the disrespect he has already have shown.

    • I think his parents need to spend more time finishing raising their impetuous child. Looks big enough to be an adult, the look is that of a spoiled and mean child.
Raise your kids right before you take on multiple businesses. If you are going to make the child, pay attention before he hurts some female or elder.
Implications of a poorly managed home life.

  2. “Honestly I didn’t do anything but verbally abused her” what kind of apology is that? He was yelling at her to get into her vehicle in a threatening manner. His parent’s raised this monster, consequences.

  3. More disabled parking is not going to fix this ***hats attitude or his disrespect of people! His apology didn’t even sound like a heartfelt realization of him being in the wrong and when he says “ I didn’t do anything but verbally abuse her…” like that’s really not that big of a deal??? A**hat doesn’t even begin to describe this young man. As for his parents losing business….well you raised him!!!

  4. I wish someone had jacked his jaw but then they would be no better than this slime ball. Shame on him and his parents. People quit shopping at their stores

  5. If he truly is a teen, and not yet an adult. His face should have been blurred. While his actions were privileged and awful towards the Elder, as adults, we know better than to direct vitriol towards an under age person. Don’t participate in mob-rage towards him.

  6. “Don’t take it out on my family. Don’t take it out on anyone that I love,”

Guess what Jonathon? You took your anger out on someone that people love too. Practice what you preach.

  7. Oh *** NO! Let him talk like that to a loved one of mine! In fact anyone in my presents!
Thank you for videoing it shows the reality of total ignorance and disrespect. We do not tolerate this.

  8. First of all she took up TWO parking spaces and I have run into her befire and she is mean as hell and doesn’t care. What everyone who has a nasty comment about the kid, yes he could’ve ignored her, but she doesn’t work like that. She is confrontational!!!! I’m grown and I went off on that old mean back woman and will do it again. Know your facts before judging people, I’m sure his comments were well deserved.

    • Because she needs TWO to ensure she has enough space to get out easily you ******g basement dwelling ****h. I guess you never noticed how handicapped parking isn’t the same as regular spots, ignorance on your part.

    • Sad but true. Still f*****d up, nonetheless. Kids are being brought up in a culture of disrespect. Parents would rather stay sucked into their screens and let their kids do whatever they want with no consequences.
