One theory for how they were all caught says several cars drove through a tunnel toll system designed to read plates

Dozens of street takeover participants in the Washington area will soon find a summons to appear in court with misdemeanors and felonies tacked on to their name after participating in one of several street, tunnel, and bridge takeovers that have plagued the Washington area around Gig Harbor and Puget Sound. Several “leaked” Instagram stories on Instagram paint a picture of overnight Instagram car crews organizing impromptu street takeovers, posting and bragging about it on social media, and expecting no repercussions.
The original videos posted are now private but here’s one video still up including some screenshots of previous videos showing their shenanigans this past few days, the first two screenshots at the Tacoma Narrows Bridge takeover and another showing burnout damage at a local shopping center.

And here are several Instagram story screenshots chronicling a text conversation between one of the alleged street takeover participants and someone in the know within the Washington judicial system who got the drop on dozens of names with warrants out, all linked to recent street takeover events.

Washington Street Takeover fails
There are two popular theories how all these street takeover participants got caught. The prevailing theory is there was an alleged rat (or mole if you will) who voluntarily turned himself in to get in front of the lists of upcoming arrests. This alleged “rat” supposedly cooperated with police, confirming cars that showed up on videos and naming names of street takeover participants as a witness.
The simpler and likely theory is that, during their tunnel takeover, they all drove through license plate readers, incriminating themselves when paired with in-tunnel footage.
In response to these hooligans up to no good, established and upstanding car meet pages posted up their own statements denouncing anything that has to do with these so-called car crews and their recent illegal gatherings.
The logic behind these takeovers and how they want to avoid getting caught is asinine. In order to gain social media clout you have to post your exploits on the internet. But, if you post it on the internet, you self incriminate yourself.
These Instagram accounts think police aren’t monitoring threads on social media but they’re mistaken. Not only are Washington police following up on tips via social media to catch these street takeover participants, armed with their own videos, they have enough evidence to throw the book at them.
Honestly, I wouldn’t even call these street takeovers real deal takeovers. These takeovers are lame copies of Bay Area sideshows with cars that frankly look like regular traffic.
If these kids want to play games, look forward to Washington police sending you letters to your parents’ house where you live summoning you to jail.
