Miami PD’s elite bike response team meant to show off their sick skills but ended up looking a bunch of middle schoolers with ‘tude.

NBC 6 South Florida tweeted out a teaser video to a larger story highlighting Miami PD’s Elite Bike Response Team earlier today (June 6, 2020) and while the police officers in the video were acting super serious, to the larger internet well versed on memeology and seven seasons of Reno 911, it looked incredibly dorky.

Check out the video leaving my sides in stitches below. Also, here’s the video NBC 6 shot.

This South Florida news team really had all forty members suited and geared presumably on their police station parking lot. With a light sprinkling moments before filming, the asphalt was nice and wet, or as any five-year-old on a BMX Mongoose would call, prime conditions for sick skids. The lead bike cop knew this, too.

Pedaling towards the camera, the dozen or so bike cops are seen pedaling along, chanting, “Move back, move back.” It’s supposed to be intimidating and, to a group of lone protesters, it might be.

And right before they reach the camera, the front rows of bikers skid to a halt in dramatic effect while the rest of the posse spreads out, making a mobile barrier between imaginary protesters and their person.

But ya, it looked hilarious. Don’t take my word for it. Here are the best replies below.

To be honest, what these bike cops do is skilled work. Being able to maneuver a bike in a unit of bikes as a team and effectively carry out crowd control is not something you learn overnight.

Policing on bikes is also extra physical and, without your police cruiser to get you out of sticky situations, can be dangerous in less than ideal conditions.

But as for feature bike promo videos, maybe try a tad less flair when dismounting.
