If this driver just toughed it out and drove across the Patona Bridge, they could’ve legally turned around at the next interchange.
I only reserved this level of insane driving behavior for us rude Americans, but it’s apparent that bad driving at this level defies borders. According to a video posted to /r/IdiotsInCars earlier this weekend (Aug. 9,2020) a traffic cam on the E95 just outside the Dnieper River caught the unbelievable moment a driver stopped just as he was about to merge onto the E95 towards the Pechers’kyi district.
Instead of continuing on, the driver flips an illegal u-turn, across three lanes of opposing traffic, just so he doesn’t have to cross the Patona Bridge and avoid an added 15 minutes to their commute.
Check out the video for yourself below.

And here’s a street view of the exact location on Google Maps.
This particular E95 entrance has drivers entering from the Dniprovska Embankment. A quick look on Google Maps reveals there’s only one entrance to the E95, going in this direction.
The only way to change directions on the E95 from this road is to continue in the wrong direction across the Patona Bridge and, as mentioned, take the proper entrance once across the River. The bridge is only 1.5KM (or less than a mile) long.
This looks like the peak of traffic in Kiev, but surely that little bit of commute tacked on is not worth risking a ticket.
Or, this driver could’ve entered from another E95 on-ramp that was going in the direction he originally intended.
According to OP,
He just needed to go the other way. Took wrong exit. He was later stopped by the police and fined.
Some quick searches reveal traffic fines like speeding and illegal u-turns usually run drivers in Ukraine around $20 or slightly less.
This driver thought he was saving time but ironically, a traffic stop and fine later proved to be the exact opposite.
No matter where you drive in the world, don’t inconvenience your fellow man by flipping an illegal u-turn, setting off a ripple of traffic in your wake. Just continue on and take your driving errors like the good driver that you are.
