Peterborough, England Hit-and-Run sees Mercedes hit pedestrian before reversing for another go

You’ll never know what to expect on good ol’ Taverners Road.

A smartphone video making its rounds on Reddit and Whatsapp shows the disturbing moment a Mercedes driver hits a pedestrian walking on Taverners Road in Peterborough, UK earlier this weekend (Aug 22,2020) before reversing and attempting another hit-and-run again.

With just a snapshot of the hit-and-run, we have little context to go on. Presumably there’s some serious beef between the guy that got hit and the Mercedes passenger, enough to make the Mercedes driver make the illogical leap to “maybe I should hit him with my car.”

Here’s the spot on Google Maps where the hit-and-run goes down.

We can see a small crowd gathered which makes me wonder if there was a bit of a back-and-forth spectacle happening beforehand, enough to grab the attention of people frequenting this otherwise quiet UK street.

The driver of the Mercedes probably took the A15 Bourges Blvd Roundabout and faked the pedestrian out, making him think he’s booked it when in reality he was just winding up for what amounts to a criminal act.

After he’s narrowly hit the pedestrian again for a second time, we can see the Mercedes passenger imitate a fake finger pistol, “shooting” the hit-and-run victim before the man smacks he rear window.

Shortly afterwards we see the limping pedestrian take more of his anger out on a nearby Golf GTI. How this VW driver is connected to this bit of road rage, your guess is as good as mine.

Failing to stop and report hitting a pedestrian is a serious crime in the UK punishable by up to six months in prison not to mention a minimum of five points on your license.

With video evidence, this hit-and-run victim should have no problem submitting a claim if he so chooses.
