Just because a handful of the auto industry enjoyed Acura’s drone show live doesn’t mean you can’t relive the magic.

Earlier yesterday (Aug. 12, 2021) Acura announced the swan song to the Acura NSX with the Type S variant and the return of arguably Acura’s most important model, the Integra.

As this is a model not quite at the tail end of its development, there isn’t an official model to unveil. That, however, didn’t stop Acura from announcing its arrival in one of the most bada** ways possible, a frea*in drone show!

While a handful of screenshots of drones doing their thing spread on Twitter, it did not do justice to the sick animations drones are capable of.

And while it was a “you had to be there” type of announcement, a handful of attendees whipped out their phones, recording the whole thing for us to enjoy.

If you don’t want to watch seven minutes of drones, the highlight is a first gen Acura Integra with operating pop-up headlights.

As mentioned, the drone show played like it was only for Acura’s new NSX Type S. A refreshed look and 600 HP is worth flying some drones, no doubt.

Then, halfway through the show, the music takes an unexpected 80s-era turn, revealing “1986” the first year of the Integra, followed by an outline of Acura’s OG three-door liftback.

In it’s press release, Acura’s VP Kon Ikeda said,

“I’m thrilled to say Integra is returning to the Acura lineup with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling our commitment to Precision Crafted Performance in every way – design, performance and the overall driving experience.”

Yup, the Integra is back and it’s returning as soon as Spring 2022.
