Before you buy one, you should probably measure how long your garage is.

There’s a general misconception that, since Electric vehicles have large battery packs, they’re somehow shaped different and a lot larger than their gas counterparts.

And, with the ever-growing size of the average car, truck, and SUV, the fear of buying an electric truck and realizing it doesn’t fit in your garage can be a problem and potential dealbreaker for some.

Thankfully, we know the length, width, and height of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado.

According to USA Today,

The Silverado EV is a five-passenger crew cab, measuring 233 inches long, 80 inches wide and 76 inches high — about the same as a current short-box Silverado crew cab.

Believe it or not, this is in line with the rest of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lineup, just 3.5 inches longer than the shortest gas-powered Silverado Regular Cab (229.5 inches.)

So we know the Silverado EV is 19 feet long. The question is, is your garage that long? And, do you have enough space on either side to open at least one set of doors?

If you’re nowhere near home and don’t have an idea how long your garage is, not to worry.

According to Danleys,

  • Three car garages are about 22-feet long.
  • Two car garages are about 20-feet long.
  • And single car garages are about 22-feet long.

The Electric Chevrolet Silverado is designed to fit in most average single, two, and three-car garages.

That doesn’t mean it won’t be a tight fit.

If you’ve got cabinets at the back, that cuts into your overall space.

If you don’t have cabinets, and it’s already a tight fit with the garage barely closing, don’t count on adding front or rear accessories on your Silverado EV like a front bumper guard or tow hitch.

You also have to plan for some kind of Level 2 charger attached while you sleep, so factor in a couple of inches on the charger side for a charger handle sticking out.

Electric trucks, they’re heavier, but not necessarily larger.
