“This is like 70% of the population,” the twitter video is captioned.

There’s a heart wrenching video on social media floating around (Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and maybe Facebook) showing what looks like a hard working, honest-to-goodness American straight pleading with police not to tow his truck.

Here’s the video below.

“Let me push the f****** thing, man,” you can hear the man plead with police. “Don’t tow it (the truck) away, that thing costs me money. I don’t have any money dude, I’m broke man, my life sucks. You’re making it worse!”

“You’re not nice, you’re not cordial, you don’t care about people like me.”

The video is less than half a minute long and, off the bat, it sheds a negative light on the police.

How can police be so heartless, taking away this working man’s truck?

What justification do they have?

They suck!

As with a lot of these short videos shared for the clout where we are only seeing a snippet taken out of context and where we get so emotionally involved that we let our biases take over (all cops are bad and this reinforces that belief,) there’s a good reason.

The whole video is actually more than half an hour long and is body cam footage taken from Florida State Police officers.

The original footage was obtained by the Active Police Cam youtube channel and is police footage from March 27,2021. APC published this video on June 16,2022 which explains why this footage is only now going viral.

Here’s the entire video below.

According to the video’s description Florida State Police originally pulled this guy’s truck over for a, “rear right tail light and tag light inoperable.”

After the driver could not hand over registration and insurance, FSP learned that, “the above listed pickup trucks registration expired on 03/31/2011 out of Texas with no insurance on file.”

This guys truck wasn’t registered and insured for, until that day, nine years, eleven months, and 27 days.

In other words, this guy, now ID’d as Robert, was driving dirty for 10 years!

Police had no other choice but to tow his truck and cite Robert accordingly.

But, it gets worse.

According to the police’s statement and the video, “Robert stated he wasn’t signing the ticket, that he didn’t have to and then picked up his phone and dialed 911.”

That’s right, Robert actually called 911 in front of police! Talk about letting emotions get the best of him.

“North Port Police dispatcher advised they were on a 911 line with Robert, who was stating he was being harassed, the police statement says. “At the time of his 911 call there were no actual emergencies.”

Robert’s situation went from bad to worse because not only was he refusing to sign the citation, he misused emergency services…in front of them!

That’s where the video ends.

According to APC, Robert ends up with four misdemeanors.

  • Misuse of 911
  • Violation of financial responsibility for property damage (not having insurance)
  • Resisting an officer without violence.
  • and refusal to accept and sign a citation

When his day in court came around, the judge dropped misusing 911 and resisting an officer.

As for his other charges, Robert received no jail or probation and only had to pay $353 in fines not including his tow and impound fees.

Conclusion

If the average price to insure a vehicle in Florida is around $1190, plus the $30 annual registration fee, Robert probably avoided paying over $12,000.

Considering all the money saved plus all the drama Robert caused, a $353 is honestly not that big of a punishment.

To my knowledge, during those ten years Robert didn’t get into any accidents but, you already know what happens when you get hit by someone with no insurance and it’s not your fault, you end up taking responsibility and pay for everything.

Is that fair?

But, arguably the real issue is how social media played us all to get worked up at police when we didn’t know the whole story.

How do you feel about people driving without insurance and when they get into an accident pleading, “Sorry, I don’t have insurance?”

I also don’t have to point out the elephant in the room and how if this guy was you know what *cough* different ethnicity *cough* well… you can draw your conclusions.

Reign DiGrazia said it best when he commented,

“I saw a post on Instagram of him saying, “let me push the thing I don’t have any money” and everyone in the comments is saying how bad they feel and how awful cops are. Always get the full story because in reality this guy is a complete lunatic jerk.”

  1. They arrested him and the one cop was waiting for the opportunity. I think it’s terrible I understand how he was acting but still cops should be better

  2. I mean insurance is expensive really you didn’t change the narrative it’s the narrative or the gut reaction feeling. A lot of people be driving dirty because they simply can’t afford the inthe insurance on top of everything else

  3. Let’s be honest, she actually pulled him over because he’s driving a bucket. Cops do it all the time, if you drive a bucket you just tripled your chances of getting pulled. Also it looked like his tail lights were on.

  4. This whole wright up is is complete garbage we all know insurance is a government scam. Your forced to pay it and if you don’t you go to jail. Also if you do decide to use it they double your payment that right there should show you it’s a scam. 2 the guy was driving for 10 years without a license and registration ??? Come on that in its self sounds impossible BUT if he did your telling me 0 accidents 0 moving violations in 10 years!!!!! Hell that man deserves a medal or something. This leads me to Roberts point of view when the cops popped him to extort him for money he was literally 30 feet from a spot to put the truck till he could come up with a way to handle the situation with out paying the towing company. Because we all know how crooked those people are he asked the police a number of times “can I just push the truck to this parking lot so I don’t have to pay the tow company” but because the police and tow companies have Mutual agreements they told him NO you can’t. AND THATS what pushed Robert over the edge at that point the cops became pigs in my eyes because the pigs were looking for anything they could to physically respond to Robert by restraining him on the ground and taking him to jail. All in all like I said in the beginning this wright up is GARBAGE personally I believe the person who wrote this is a boot licker. What is a boot licker a person who believes that the police and the government in general can do no wrong. Well if your a boot licker or if you believe that the police are honest one day you will indeed find out that’s so far from the truth it’s not even funny. What normally ends up happening is these people end on the wrong side of their beliefs and get completely screwed over by the pigs that they so dearly defend. The problem is it takes time for that to happen and in turn causes ZERO change. The boot lickers are the reason the pigs get away with what they do it’s sad and it seriously needs to stop. As a American it’s your responsibility your DUTY to question EVERYTHING a police officer dose and the government does. Your not doing anything wrong by doing this all your doing is exercising your natural rights given to you by whatever you believe in me personally I believe it’s God. This is why our forefathers wrote the constitution to protect us from the tyranny that’s going on in this country now. Robert was indeed being extorted and harassed the video over all is sad and I feel terrible that happened to him. He didn’t deserve to be treated that way by a group of thugs that are paid by our tax dollars.
