Sporting red calipers and thin sidewall tires, this is definitely the new Civic Type R.

One week before Honda takes the wraps off their all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R we know what it looks like under all that camo thanks to an rendering published pre-maturely on Honda of Japan’s official website earlier today (July 13, 2022.)

The rendering was discovered by CivicXI.com member moOmoOnEL as he was browsing Honda.co.jp, specifically their “Welcome Plaza” sub-section.

Whoops, that’s the new Civic Type R!

Honda’s Welcome Plaza in Aoyama is currently set up with notable generations of Honda Civic, from the first gen all the way to the current 11th gen, as 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of Honda’s best selling compact car.

Presumably, someone updated the site to include the 2023 Honda Civic Type R as, once it’s officially unveiled on the 20th, they’ll include it in their gallery with the rest of the Civics.

As quickly as the 2023 Honda Civic Type R rendering appeared, someone eventually caught wind and deleted it.

Here it is again in higher definition via CivicXI.com

2023 Honda Civic Type R leaked!

While we don’t know the shade of white this 2023 Honda Civic Type R is, like previous generations, it’s most likely Championship White.

Unlike the previous Civic Type R the wing is not body colored instead, colored black.

Some on CivicXI.com, myself included, speculate this is some sort of carbon fiber wing. The current Civic Type R’s wing is plastic composite.

The wheel and tire setup looks exactly like the prototype and teaser shots so, no surprise there.

Overall, the additional boy racer add-ons and slight modifications, turning a regular Honda Civic into a literal racecar for the road, look just right in this 11th gen Honda Civic form.

Whereas critics and car pundits slammed the new Civic for looking to conservative, in Type R garb it looks downright perfect.

Even with this rendering leak, there’s still a lot Honda has up its sleeve, enough to keep the hype up for another week.

Primarily, we’ll find out how much more powerful this new Civic Type R is, what kind of transmission its turbocharged engine is paired to and whether or not they’ll announce they took back the Nurburgring FWD record…again.

What do you think about the new 2023 Honda Civic Type R’s new looks?
