The driver reportedly got away.

Was Redditor /u/David8479 in the right place at the right time, or the wrong place at the wrong time? Well, it all depends on how you look at the situation.

The new(-ish) Marylander submitted dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit earlier yesterday (Mar 15, 2023) showing a Ford F-150 truck fleeing from Maryland State Police somewhere in La Plata, MD earlier last year (May 10, 2022 according to the dashcam footage.)

Check out the exciting chase and getaway unfold in OP’s dashcam footage below.

As OP’s thread title says, he honestly thought he was getting pulled over. Seeing two MSP Pursuit vehicles barreling towards him, I don’t blame him for driving to the side of the road.

It looks like MSP had the fleeing driver boxed in, preventing him from changing lane. With OP blocking his path, the driver takes evasive maneuvers, drives off-road and, while trying to regain traction on the two-lane highway, loses control and fishtails off-road, again.

This unfortunate maneuver on his part turned out to be a lucky roll of the dice, as the Ford F-150’s tough-as-nails construction, rugged suspension, and generous clearances front and rear allowed the truck to speed away from MSP off-road.

We can see those MSP cruisers stop and double-back, giving the fleeing driver a head-start on his retreat.

“… instead of impeding the boys in blue by trying to panic and move, the best choice was to stay put for cops to handle it unless the dude pulled out a gun, then I’d nope t.f. out of there,” OP replied to /u/PathComplex, congratulating him for staying put.

OP’s not sure if the off-roading driver was able to get away but, if I was a betting man, I’d guess his luck eventually run out.

And if you’re wondering, OP clarifies that Linkin Park’s One More Light was playing.

Do you know what eventually happened to the fleeing driver?
