She thought it would be a case of he said she said, until it wasn’t.

If you need yet another reason to get yourself a dashcam, take heed to the video below. Redditor /u/LS-CRX posted up dashcam footage earlier yesterday (Mar 30,2023) showing a woman backing into the rear of his car at a Dollar General parking lot in Graniteville, SC.

As the title of his thread says, he initially wasn’t going to post this dashcam video and assumed the lady would do the right thing and report the accident honestly but he was wrong, the lady told her insurance she wasn’t the one at fault.

She also assumed, since /u/LS-CRX didn’t mention he had his dashcam running, that there was no video footage to be proven otherwise.

She was sorely mistaken.

Here’s the dashcam video below.

The accident took place at the Graniteville, SC Dollar General located at the intersection of Sudow Lake Rd. and Sudow Ln (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the video shows, /u/LS-CRX set himself up to reverse into a parking lot in front of the Dollar General, opposed to driving in straight forward.

Upon seeing the lady in the Chevrolet Impala begin to reverse out, her reverse lights on, OP stops so she can further angle her way out safely.

The lady in the Chevrolet Impala continues reversing out as if no one’s behind her and hits OP’s rear bumper.

You can see the lady come out to assess the damage.

OP doesn’t mention what kind of car he has, but does say he suffered minimal damage.

The same can’t be said for the lady’s Impala which, by the looks of it, a new, color matched trunk and bumper, a body shop would easily charge her insurance upwards of $1,500.

OP replies in the comments how the lady was very nice, apologetic, admitted she wasn’t looking, and that ultimately she was distracted by her child also in the car.

After exchanging insurance, he assumed her insurance would cover the cost of repair for both their cars, that is until he received a call from State Farm.

“The other day I got a call from the insurance company for the lady that ran into me. She told them that it was me who backed into her and that she wasn’t at fault for the accident :-/”

If you haven’t connected the dots, although she looked nice, she really turned out to be a lying snake trying to get out of paying her deductible.

“The insurance adjuster wanted to know where the store was so that they could try and get security camera footage. I told them I could do better than that, and sent them the dash cam video. They called me the next day to say that they were accepting liability and would cover all the repairs to my vehicle.”

What that woman did is attempted insurance fraud which, if her insurance actually believed her and she was caught after the fact, can be subject to a misdemeanor charge.

In the state of South Carolina, insurance fraud under $10,000 is classified as a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine up to $10,000, jail time, or both.

If they’re nice, all that her insurance will do is drop her coverage, forcing her to get car insurance elsewhere.

While a pain to pay the deductible, it’s a lot better than possibly catching a misdemeanor (or felony) charge.

And if you’re on the receiving end of an accident, don’t assume people will be honest. While a lot of people are, a lot of people just aren’t.

  1. No matter if a person lie or tell the truth, Colossians 4:6 says; Let your words be Gracious and season with salt. The lady that didn’t tell the truth, give it to God. I’m glad everyone is okay.
