Another Townsend local assured OP it’s not always this bad.

East Coaster and Redditor /u/djern336 shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the humorous moment a local near Townsend, TN decided to follow OP and his wife into a shopping center for the sole purpose of giving them the bird.

Check out his thread and video below.

[OC] First time in Townsend TN, we got welcomed by a local.

The incident happened near the intersection of HWY 321 and Clearwater Dr. in Townsend, TN (Exact location on Google Maps linked here, with a birds eye view posted below.)

As OP’s dashcam shows, he’s following his wife on Highway 321 as they turn left into Clearwater Dr.

She’s in the white C5 Grand Sport, while he follows along in his MazdaSpeed6.

For some reason, there’s police activity in the leftmost lanes.

We see cars being re-routed across lanes of traffic in front of them as they also try to make the next left onto Clearwater Dr.

One woman driving a blue mid-2000s Honda Accord kind of just stops next to OP’s wife in her C5 Grand Sport before she tries to cut in front of her to merge into the center turn lane.

OP’s wife does not see her signaling, drives forward, at which point she presumably takes offense to this.

OP lets her cut in front of him.

“I let her in because I assumed she was going to the same destination we were but yet She followed her in and as she parked, gave her the middle finger, turned out the parking lot got back on the highway and left,” /u/DJern336 clarified.

She really went out of her way to give them the middle finger!

Almost everyone in the comments agrees she had no right to be upset and should’ve yielded to any traffic already in the center turn lane.

“Cars wanting to enter a lane yield to cars already in that lane. Center turn lanes are not an exception,” /u/appa-ate-momo replied.

Another Redditor reassured OP that he and his wife will have a different Townsend experience next time.

“Sorry you had a poor experience. Come back to Townsend! It’s not always this bad,” /u/aaximans commented.

Just a slice of small town USA, ain’t it?

  1. It would be my guess that the bird lady is not a true local.
    The horn gives her away.
I don’t know where you are from, but ppl in the South don’t blow horns at each other.
Usually, if you hear a horn blown out of anger in the South, if you can catch a glimpse of the license plate you will see that they are from out of state, usually from up North.

In fact, I tell Northern visitors not to blow their horns down here because ppl take it very seriously.
Some may put their car in park in the middle of the road, get out and come back there to personally see what your problem is.
