DFW airport’s roads are mostly a one-way loop, so it’s difficult to go the wrong direction. This elderly driver, however, managed to do that.

Presumed Texas resident and Redditor /u/Anthony221121 shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the surprising moment an elderly driver at the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport drove and continued to drive the wrong way up an off-ramp for Terminal A.

Check out /u/Anthony221121’s thread and video posted below.

The incident happened (starred in red below) near Terminal A on the Terminal A Entrance Rd, exact location on Google Maps linked here with a screenshot of the location below.

As OP’s video shows, he’s headed off of the International Parkway Toll Road onto the correct off-ramp towards Terminal A.

Halfway up the off-ramp he sees traffic, including a passenger bus, braking.

One car even goes into reverse.

Suddenly, you see a driver in a white Chevrolet Malibu headed in the wrong direction!

OP’s headlights shine into the Malibu’s driver’s compartment, and we can see an elderly driver behind the wheel.

The older driver didn’t seem shocked or taken aback. Far from it, she seemed ready to continue driving in the wrong direction.

“The whole terminal is a one-way loop,” OP commented.

“The only ways to end up driving the wrong way are to do a three-point turn in the middle of the road or exit a parking garage through a (well-marked) entrance.”

“I’ve driven this exact road many times,” /u/howyoudoing01 commented.

“You have to really try to find yourself going in the wrong direction on this ramp. I’m trying to figure out how they managed it.”

“In all fairness, that airport was designed by crazed concrete enthusiasts and I’ve nearly made that mistake there, /u/IronSpaceRanger added.

“Poor lighting doesn’t help seniors who may have no one to help them.”

Probably more likely, that elderly driver needs to rethink if they should continue to drive.

They pose a risk to themselves and other motorists.

Then again, people make mistakes.

Driving experts say that, if you ever find yourself accidentally going in the wrong direction, slow down, pull over as far to the right side of the road as you can, and wait for a break in traffic to turn around.

Then, proceed in the correct direction.
