The other driver had the nerve to yell at the dashcam owner that it was his fault.

Presumed Belvidere resident /u/WinSensitive51 shared dashcam footage from Dec 11, 2023 to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the close call he had with this red-light running doofus behind the wheel almost T-boning him despite having a green light.

Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.

The near accident happened at the intersection of N State St. and E. Harrison St. near the North State Shopping Center in Belvidere, IL (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

In /u/WinSensitive51’s video, we can see him driving along N State St. and entering the intersection with the light clearly green.

As this screenshot shows of the other driver in the Toyota Corolla’s POV, cars turning left also have a green, but it’s unprotected, meaning they must yield their right of way to cross traffic.

We see OP go through the intersection and almost collide with the Corolla turning left, too.

Thankfully, he swerves out of the way just in time and narrowly avoids getting T-boned.

“I couldn’t actually hear him because the music was too loud, and our windows were rolled up, but I could see him yelling and waving his hands.”

The driver probably wrongly assumed OP was the red light runner, while that’s not the case (backed up by his dashcam footage.)

“How dare you drive straight through an intersection with a green light,” /u/SlideItIn100 commented.

“A shocking amount of people think a green light means they can turn left without yielding to oncoming traffic, like you don’t also have a green,” /u/KittyandPuppyMama added.

“Oh man, I can’t say what I would do in a situation where someone almost hit me and then tried to blame it on me. That would set me off,” /u/Here4roomie replied.

If you’re wondering, OP’s dashcam is a Nexar Beam and the sick tunes he’s listening to is “The Edge by Entropy Zero.”

Blogging about these near misses, this video hits on two main things that are always worth bringing up:to drive defensively at all times and to get yourself a dashcam.
