The guilty party admitted to succumbing to the sweet temptation, and it was all caught on dashcam.
Presumed Pennsylvania resident and Redditor /u/According-Alps1307 shared dashcam footage from Sellersville, PA to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the surprising moment a crossover driving in front of /u/According-Alps1307 slammed head on into a crash barrier attenuator for one head shaking reason.

The incident occurred in the 300 block of N. Main St. across from St. Micheal’s Church (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As you can see in OP’s video, he’s driving along N. Main St. keeping a safe distance from the crossover in front of him.
The crossover doesn’t quite turn sharp enough to head over the bridge and, despite braking, crashes head-on into the dedicated crash barrier attenuator, one on either side of the bridge.
OP slams on his brakes and stops in time.
OP captioned his video, “Driver dropped her cupcake and reached down for it.”
Not surprisingly, many in the comments asked if this was a joke, to which he replied,
“She admitted it.”
“That’s a very expensive cupcake, hope it was worth it,” /u/OnePride16 commented.
“I hope the cupcake didn’t land frosting-side down. I hate when that happens,” /u/Saabister jokingly added.
“It’s almost like people are having trouble understanding the importance of cupcakes?” /u/randetous sarcastically replied.
“A friend almost died reaching for her purse while driving. Car slipped off the road, upside down into a deep ditch. (She was) in the hospital for a week with several broken bones and other injuries,” /u/NodlesRomanoff shared.
What we can take away from this accident is, despite our familiarity with local roads, getting distracted can cost you.
In this case, her insurance will pony up several thousands to repair that crossover properly, but it’s an accident that was entirely avoidable.
Driving shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Something as innocent as reaching for a cupcake can turn disastrous.
Thankfully this time, the only damage was seemingly cosmetic.
