The motorist was driving drunk at around 8 A.M.

Oregonian and Redditor /u/Disciple153 shared disturbing dashcam footage from earlier this Monday (June 3, 2024) from I-205 in Gladstone to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a drunk driver sideswiping his wife’s car and another driver’s Jeep Wrangler shortly before hitting another car, flipping it, and sending that motorist to the hospital.

Check out the dashcam footage below.

/u/Disciple153’s wife got hit on I-205 in Gladstone (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As her dashcam footage shows, she’s driving down I-205 at around 8 A.M. while it’s raining.

All of a sudden, a drunk driver in a Mercedes sedan commits hit-and-run by squeezing between his wife’s car and a Jeep Wrangler just out of frame, sideswiping both vehicles before continuing on.

It’s hard to see, but if you pause you can see the Jeep Wrangler, too.

“My wife and the Jeep in the video stopped together,” /u/Disciple153 commented.

This drunk driver’s rampage doesn’t end there because, shortly after, he hits another motorist, flipping their car.

It was bad enough that that motorist had to be sent to the hospital.

“The idiot hit a third car, flipped the victim’s car, sent them to the hospital, and totaled his own car,” OP confirmed.

“The cops sent us the report, so we got everyone’s information, but his insurance doesn’t have enough coverage. Luckily, we have uninsured coverage, so we will be OK.”

In Oregon, first time DUI offenders face fines up to $6,250 depending on your BAC and age. You also can get hit with a minimum 1-year license suspension and have an ignition interlock device installed on your vehicle.

In addition, since this DUI resulted in the serious injury of another motorist, additional assault charges will likely be tacked on.

“Drunk driver is not an idiot. It’s a potential killer,” /u/-overihl- clarified.

“She (OP’s wife) was haulin’ a** for how wet it was,” /u/SargeantHugoStiglitz pointed out.

“That is the speed limit there, but you’re probably right,” OP admitted.

Drunk driver in the middle of the night makes sense, but at that hour?

This is just another case that proves , no matter what hour and how defensive your driving is, the worst drivers can come upon you.

Thankfully, OP and his wife had good enough coverage.
