All occupants of the Tesla survived with minor injuries thanks to everyone wearing their seatbelt.
Presumed Minnesota resident and Redditor /u/Significant_Ship_129 posted up shocking dashcam footage from Minnesota State Highway 62 in St. Paul from earlier this weekend showing the unbelievable moment a driver in a Tesla Model Y veered towards /u/Significant_Ship_129 at the last second, in what looks like was an attempt to not miss their exit, causing them to get into a severe accident that saw the Tesla Model Y flip down the embankment two to three times.
Here’s that harrowing moment below.
[OC] Dude was gunning for that exit.

As mentioned, the incident happened on Minnesota State Highway 62 just before it split off with Highway 5 going East and West at exits 116B and 116 C (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As /u/Significant_Ship_129’s dashcam footage shows, he’s in Lane #2 headed towards Exit 116C towards St. Paul.
Suddenly, a driver in a Tesla Model Y speeds past /u/Significant_Ship_129’s front at what looks like full highway speed.
The ensuing collision re-orients/u/Significant_Ship_129’s car a good 45 degrees to the right as he comes to a screeching halt.
His camera angle captures the horrific moment the Tesla Model Y slides off the embankment and, according to EMS, saw them flip up to three times.
Here’s a screenshot of the embankment below.
Thankfully, it looks like all parties involved got out of the ordeal with just minor injuries, in large part thanks to seatbelt usage.
“Everyone had their seat belt on which saved them from major injury. Their car did flip over two to three times (according to EMS.) It’s quite a slope on the side.”
As to why the Tesla Model Y driver veered suddenly, the reason is unknown.
Many in the comments suggest that the Tesla might’ve been on Autopilot while actual Autopilot users refuted that claiming, saying how in their own experience, AP wouldn’t have pulled off that dangerous maneuver.
“Autopilot would not have allowed the car to approach the back of the other car going so fast. As a Model 3 owner, autopilot is garbage, but the one thing it reliably does is keep you from rear-ending another car directly in front of you in normal traffic situations. 99.9% they were not in autopilot,” /u/TreesForTheForest commented.
Almost everyone agrees, myself included, that missing your exit was the right thing to do in this situation.
And, with almost all modern cars, especially Teslas, having GPS, it’s only a matter of re-routing to get to your destination all the same.
