An elderly, 80+ year-old man caused a T-bone accident on E Central Ave involving two other vehicles.
Comanche resident and Redditor /u/Psychological-Lie282 shared frustrating dashcam footage from downtown Comanche from earlier last July (July 27, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing what he says is an octogenarian in his ol’ Ford Pickup negligently crossing E Central Ave without looking properly, causing him to get violently T-boned.
Check out /u/Psychological-Lie282’s dashcam footage below.
[oc] Happened to me on my way to a class. Some octogenarian decided it was clear to cross. He ended up hitting the woman in the lane to my right as well.

As mentioned, the incident happened in Comanche at the intersection of E Central Ave and N Pearl St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along E Central Ave. on his way to class when he approaches the intersection with South Austin St.
OP clarified that he’s using hand controls for acceleration and braking, which is worth mentioning given how some Redditors think his reaction time, slamming on his brakes, was too slow.
“I should’ve mentioned I use hand controls…I use them due to getting hit by a drunk in a previous accident,” /u/Psychological-Lie282 explained.
With the stop signs on South Austin St, the onus is on drivers driving through the intersection from that street to stop and yield properly to cross traffic.
Suddenly, an elderly man in his Eddie Bauer Edition Ford F-150 darts across E Central Ave, directly in the path of /u/Psychological-Lie282.
Behind OP was another truck “riding his a**” and an elderly woman driver to his right.
With his hand controls, OP brakes to scrub speed, but it’s too little too late.
And, with nowhere to swerve, he had to T-bone the ol’ truck.
“(I) probably hit the bed of his truck around 35-40 MPH.”
The elderly man also drove into the woman in the lane to OP’s right, as well.
“She was OK (Thank God. She was elderly too.) “
There was no shortage of comments pointing out how the accident conveniently happened in front of a Ford dealership.
‘At least he can get an instant quote from Ford,” /u/Throat_Supreme jokingly commented.
“Funny stuff. The Ford dealership guy ran out and was super nice in helping everyone. He mentioned a new truck but just as a joke thankfully lol,” /u/Psychological-Lie282 replied.
Thankfully, it sounds like everyone made it out OK, except for their vehicles, which will require extensive repairs if not scrapped altogether.
And, if you already haven’t gotten yourself a dashcam, what are you waiting for?
Well first off it wasn’t the intersection of Austin and Central because there are no stop signs there. There are traffic lights at that intersection. It was Pearl St and Central. Also why did you hit him at 35-40 miles an hour. Speed limit right there is 30 because you just left the traffic light. And had you been going the correct speed he would have had plenty of time to cross. Because you only hit the bed of his truck. Maybe you should pay better attention to your surroundings
