This dashcam owner pre-emptively stopped to avoid an impending collision but got hit anyway.
Bay Stater and Redditor /u/Asalami_Laykum shared headshaking dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from Worcester from earlier last weekend (Aug 24, 2024) showing a lady in a Ford Escape fail to check cross traffic as she recklessly entered a T-intersection and ending up getting hit and causing subsequent collision herself.
Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.

The incident happened at the T-intersection of Mill St. and Webster St. in Worcester (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along Webster St and slows to prepare to turn left onto Mill St.
Driving defensively, OP comes to a complete stop after he sees the wheels on the other driver’s Ford Escape move forward despite an approaching Honda Accord coming the other way.
The inevitable happens and the Ford Escape recklessly pulls out just as the Honda Accord approaches the T-intersection.
The Escape gets hit hard on the corner of their Escape and, despite stopping to avoid an accident, rolls into OP, slamming into OP’s front bumper at a relatively low speed.
“A lot of folks think I waved her on, which is not true,” OP clarified. “I was driving up to take a left turn into the left lane…Once I saw her tires move, then I began to slow to a stop to avoid being in a collision, which didn’t help.”
“This lady was even trying to lie to the firefighters claiming she was bumped into traffic. I was very glad to have helped the other victims’ family with the footage. The at-fault driver certainly did not want to take accountability whatsoever.”
OP doesn’t explicitly say but we can infer that no one was injured or worse.
OP does state that everyone had insurance so, this will amount to weeks, if not months of insurance and auto body shop work for all parties involved.
“You made it home safe luckily, so f***ing dumb that she won’t just hit the brakes before hitting you. Causing an accident from a mistake and owning up to it is one thing, but getting pissed at the people you have affected is insane,” /u/eks789 commented.
“Not only did she fail to give way to the oncoming cars but she also had to give way to you turning, complete fail and the worst part for you is she involved you in her stupidity,” /u/TwoToneReturns added.
It goes without saying, but this incident was easily avoidable.
And, it’s not like it was a difficult situation where her line of sight was obscured.
Hopefully, she learns from this colossal mistake and becomes a better driver because of it as it looks like she has at least a decade more of driving in front of her.
It shows that someone had slowed to let the car out. The oncoming driver as not going to slow down for five seconds to do the same.
