Had this driver not had their dashcam running, that driver could’ve easily claimed he was not at fault.

Presumed Illinoisian and Redditor /u/int0xikaited shared frustrating dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from Franklin Park showing the harebrained moment a driver exiting this Jewel Osco blindly turned right into her lane almost causing a rear-end collision.

Check out her dashcam footage below.

The incident happened near the 10000 block of Grand Ave as drivers exit this Jewel Osco. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As her dashcam footage shows, she turned left onto Grand Ave towards where she needed to turn.

OP does acknowledge that this turned into the wrong lane.

As she approaches Jewel Osco, a driver in a Toyota Matrix exiting said grocery store, with their vision obstructed by a compact RV, blindly turns into Grand Ave traffic in front of OP.

/u/int0xikaited slams on her brakes, narrowly avoiding a rear-end collision.

Understandably, we can hear her screaming expletives at the driver in the Matrix.

“For the life of me, I’ll never understand why people couldn’t just wait the extra 3 seconds before coming out. But alas no. It’s always; “Me. Me Go Now. Me go now first!” /u/Amerallis commented.

“You gotta be more defensive in traffic like this tbh. I know it’s the other car’s fault But OP doesn’t touch the brakes until the car is well into the lane. I think anytime a car is turning or merging near you like that, you gotta ease off the pedal and be ready, “/u/xWDTSWESx recommended.

As /u/xWDTSWESx puts it, in particularly busy areas with cars entering and exiting from either direction, it’s a good idea to be extra cautious and to, unfortunately, expect the worst decisions from drivers around them.

Hopefully, that driver in a Matrix will reevaluate how they exit driveways from now on.
