Dashcam owner alleges this driver was high when he ran a red light at this Fremont Blvd. intersection.
Bay Area resident and Redditor /u/Friff1014 shared shocking dashcam footage to the /r/BayArea subreddit from Fremont from earlier in October (Oct 25,224) showing an alleged high driver in a Toyota Highlander blowing this intersection, running a red light, and hitting a driver in their Lexus in the process.
Check out his dashcam footage below.
Fremont Crash

The crash happened at the intersection of Darwin Dr. and Fremont Blvd in Fremont, CA (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, OP is about to turn left off of Darwin Dr and has a green light and right of way.
“(I) had a weird feeling, so I yielded for the red car (the Lexus NX.),” OP captioned his video.
Suddenly, a driver in a blue-green Toyota Highlander blows through the red light and intersection.
“Not sure if you can tell from the video, but he was going pretty fast.” I saw the Highlander coming as soon as I crossed, but I didn’t think he would run the red. I actually thought he would notice at the last minute and slam on his brakes.
The Highlander driver slams into the red-orange Lexus NX at full speed, severely damaging the Lexus and totaling his Toyota.
“I didn’t talk to him (the driver,) but his passenger sounded high for sure…I think he was just high,” OP replied to comments wondering why he blew the red light.
“I see it (these types of crashes) multiple times a day in Hayward/Castro Valley.”
OP doesn’t expound if any of the involved were injured, but seeing how the driver allegedly under the influence had the wherewithal to look back and the impact on the Lexus was mostly in the rear, it’s safe to assume everyone made it out mostly OK.
“Apparently, he (the alleged DUI driver) has insurance.”
It’s unfortunate to say but, in this day and age, If you already aren’t taking a beat after your light turns green, and then looking both ways before entering the intersection, you probably should be.
It’s reckless idiots like that Highlander driver that make the above practice necessary more than ever.
And, if you don’t have a dashcam yet, what are you waiting for?
