A dashcam owner captured the moment a speeding driver in a Jeep Grand Cherokee lost control in a wild crash that could’ve been much worse.
Ohio resident and Redditor /u/South-By-North shared dashcam footage from Vine. St. from earlier in October (Oct 25, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a speeding driver in a Jeep Grand Cherokee losing control on a grassy corner lot and almost crashing into a house before swerving back onto the road.
Check out his dashcam footage below.
[OC] I’m glad I noticed them run the red light behind me

The incident happened in the 3500 block of Vine St. in Cincinatti, OH (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving on Vine St. beside the Cincinnati Zoo.
According to the title of his thread, he notices a driver in a Jeep Grand Cherokee running a red light behind him.
After blasting past OP, the red light running driver can be seen approaching a gentle curve in the road.
The driver, speeding well above the posted 25 MPH speed limit, loses control and understeers into an undeveloped corner lot at the intersection with Beldare Ave.
His Jeep skims across the lot and almost crashes into the nearest house had not the driver regained control and steered back onto the road.
You can see in the footage how the Jeep Grand Cherokee see-saws up and down, likely damaging the Grand Cherokee’s underbody, suspension components, and not to mention large pieces of the front end.
“25 mph limit. Don’t think OP or the idiot are anywhere near that,” /u/Steeps5 pointed out, calling out OP for not exactly driving the speed limit either.
“The worst part is the f***ing crosswalk right after where he crashed. If someone was crossing they’re dead due to that harebrained speeding,” /u/Scrubsam commented.
“It’s such terrible road design. Wide open lanes and multiple lanes in each direction invite high speeds, yet the road goes through a neighbourhood with parked cars, sidewalks, and houses on either side. It’s just begging for accidents to happen,” /u/Dauemannen added.
It looks like the Grand Cherokee driver and his vehicle were the only ones involved in the incident.
As pointed out in the comments, this could’ve ended up a whole lot worse.
Among the top contributing factors in traffic accidents and fatalities is speed.
Simply put, slow down!
