This elderly driver failed to yield for a utility truck. Causes thousands in damage to their own Lexus as the front bumper of the truck rips across their doors.

North Carolinian and Redditor /u/Koimi-Nisekona shared headshaking dashcam footage from her friend from earlier this November (Nov 4, 2024) from North Providence showing an elderly driver commit to recklessly turn left across Mineral Spring Ave into the path of a utility truck causing thousands in damage to their own Lexus.

/u/Koimi-Nisekona was riding shotgun.

Check out her dashcam footage below. Profanity warning.

The accident happened in the 1200 block of Mineral Spring Ave (a.k.a. RI-15) (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As her dashcam footage shows, her friend is driving along RI-15 when up ahead she observes a driver in a white Lexus pull out onto Mineral Spring Ave from a nearby strip mall.

The driver, who we later learn is an elderly woman with her husband as a passenger, fails to yield to oncoming traffic

She sideswipes the side of her Lexus into the front bumper of an oncoming utility truck, its driver with the right of way.

Instead of stopping upon impact, driving forward caused thousands of damage to her luxury crossover.

Here’s a close-up.

Thousands in damage.

“I saw the (utility) truck and there was zero visible damage,” OP commented.

Presumably, the utility truck had a thick, steel bumper on the front of it.

OP confirmed they didn’t hit-and-run after the fact.

“They did end up pulling into a gas station out of frame.”

“Can confirm these are just Rhode Island things. Small state. Big f*** ups,” /u/but_does_she_reddit commented.

“Utility truck is like: Thanks, my bumper was itchy,” /u/Danny2Sick humoursly added.

“Just another day on Mineral Spring Ave I see,” /u/ForrestBurg89, a local, added.

This accident was easily avoidable if she actually looked and yielded.

Unfortunately, it looks like she pulled out without even a cursory glance of oncoming traffic.

Thankfully, it looks like no one was seriously hurt.

This, however, could’ve ended up a whole lot worse if that utility truck was traveling faster.
