A driver in a Ford Mustang on Friars Rd. and Riverdale St. tried to turn his u-turn into a drift but spun out instead.
SoCal resident and Redditor /u/Jordan619sd shared hilarious dashcam footage from earlier last week (Nov 12, 20224) from Grantville, San Diego showing a driver in a Ford Mustang failing to turn his u-turn into a drift and then driving into oncoming traffic immediately after.
Check out his dashcam footage below.
[OC] Wasn’t even surprised when I saw it was a mustang

The failed drift happened at the intersection of Friars Rd. and Riverdale St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his footage shows, OP is on Friars Rd waiting for his light to turn green.
Up ahead he observes traffic turning left.
Suddenly, a driver in a Ford Mustang accelerates in the middle of his U-turn in an attempt to break traction and drift.
The driver gives it too much gas and spins out.
Instead of turning to point in the right direction, the Mustang driver decides the quickest maneuver is to turn and drive into oncoming traffic on Riverdale St.
The sirens of an ambulance, unrelated to his shenanigans, can be heard as he makes his speedy getaway.
“Is this a 1 vehicle intersection takeover?,” /u/StationAccomplished3 humoursly asked.
“And then into the oncoming lane. It’s the only way to be sure,” /u/Stratomaster9 added.
“Wow. That is a lot of idiot for a 16-second video!,” /u/kungfooey commented.
In California, drifting is a form of street racing that endangers the public.
First-time offenders are subject to a fine between $355-$1,000, a suspended license up to six months, jail time between 1-90 days, and community service, not to mention your car getting impounded.
Driving on the wrong side of the road is subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and up to one year in jail.
