A distracted driver in Parkville, MD failed to yield to a driver in her hard-to-miss red Jeep, barely avoiding an accident.
Presumed Marylander and Redditor /u/MemeGodess1252 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Nov 12, 2024) from Carney/Parkville showing another driver failing to yield after coming to a complete stop and almost colliding with /u/MemeGodess1252 in her big, red Jeep.
Check out her dashcam footage below.
Idiot in Red Stops at Stop Sign and then Almost Hits Me [oc]

The incident happened at the T-intersection of Cromwell Bridge Rd. and Cub Hill Rd in Parkville, MD (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As her dashcam footage shows, it looks like she’s driving in a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon or Gladiator Rubicon, both large sports utility vehicles that, in that bright red color, are hard to miss.
As she approaches the T-intersection with Cub Hill Rd, a driver in a red GMC crossover can be seen coming to a stop (as she had a stop sign) just as /u/MemeGodess1252 approaches.
Instead of yielding her right of way, she continues forward as if she didn’t see /u/MemeGodess1252.
/u/MemeGodess1252 takes evasive action and swerves into the opposing traffic lane, narrowly avoiding a collision with the other driver’s vehicle.
“NSFW for swearing, happened in the Maryland area today. I’m a newer driver and I genuinely don’t know what this person was thinking. They stopped, saw me, and then slammed on the gas.”
The most upvoted comment suggested that perhaps she had the sun in her eyes but, as another Redditor pointed out, she made no attempt to actually look at cars coming from OP’s direction.
“The sun wasn’t even in her eyes because she never even tried to look. I mean, maybe she didn’t look because the sun would have been in her eyes, but it’s like come on at least turn your head. The entire video her old head is just staring straight forward,” /u/TheGreatLightDesert pointed out.
“Very hard to miss your big red truck,” /u/Admirable_Nothing added.
‘All she had to do was keep looking left and she couldn’t even manage that simple task,” /u/Jump_Yossarian replied.
Thankfully, OP had the presence of mind and reaction speed to avoid what would’ve been a costly fender bender.
It goes without saying but, if you have a stop sign/red light/ the equivalent, the onus is on you to look and confirm that you’re not entering into another traffic’s right of way.
Also, it’s a good thing OP had dashcam footage as, if the accident had happened, she has proof she wasn’t at fault.
