A driver on the Bronx River Parkway stopped, made a U-turn, and then went against traffic just so they didn’t miss their exit.
New York commuter and Redditor /u/Hari1o1 shared headshaking dashcam footage from the Bronx River Parkway from earlier last week (Nov 18, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a Honda Civic complete a U-Turn before driving against traffic and into the exit they didn’t want to miss.
Check out this insane display of driving behavior below.
Just take the next exit [oc]

The incident took place at the Bronx River Parkway and Sprain Brook Parkway interchange at Exit 1 (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, /u//u/Hari1o1 is driving in the fast lane of the Bronx River Parkway.
Suddenly, he comes up upon a driver in a silver Honda Civic having just completed a U-turn after Exit 1 proceeding to drive against traffic to turn into Exit 1 towards White Plains.
OP slows in time to avoid T-boning the Civic.
Had he not been paying attention, this could’ve ended up a whole lot worse.
The driver in the Civic presumably makes his exit in one of the most unhinged and dangerous ways possible.
This dangerous maneuver is arguably reckless driving with first-time offenders in New York subject to a total fine of up to $370 ($300 base fine+ $70 for first-time offenders) and 5 points on your record. Racking up 11 points results in a license suspension for a year and a half.
“That might be the worst missed exit f***ery I’ve ever seen on this sub. Holy s***,” /u/styckx commented.
“What baffles me about this sort of thing is that it seems so obvious that you shouldn’t do it. No one ever told me never to do this, I just figured it out,” /u/Jabbles22 added.
“Oh my God, I’ve been through there about a billion times in this life and I have never seen that. This is a first,” /u/scoialcommentary2000 commented.”
“The BRP/Sprain diverge (what’s pictured by those who aren’t from WC) is a hectic a** area right north of one of the more mindbending parkway interchanges in the area (CC/BRP).”
“I am really surprised that the dude wasn’t creamed by someone coming around the curve just like you did,” local.”
What this driver should’ve done is continue past their missed exit to the next available off-ramp.
I measured and the next one was less than 3/4 miles away.
And, if they’re using any decent GPS/GPS app, it would’ve re-routed them.
This maneuver was just inexcusable.
