This driver on NE 132nd St. thought it’d be smart to stop and reverse in a roundabout.

Washingtonian and Redditor /u/FireIsMyFriend90 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Nov 22, 2024) from Kirkland showing an inattentive driver making what could’ve been a horrendous mistake of stopping and reversing on a roundabout.

The incident happened at the second of two roundabouts in the Kingsgate neighborhood of Kirkland on NE 132nd St just after the 405 overpass (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As his dashcam footage shows, /u/FireIsMyFriend90 drives through the first of two consecutive roundabouts on NE 132nd St.

After entering the second roundabout and halfway through, he almost comes bumper-to-bumper with another driver stopped and reversing.

/u/FireIsMyFriend90 does his best to slow and swerve out of the way, giving a “WTH” honk as he passes the clueless driver.

OP continues onto 405 North, and that’s where the clip ends.

What that driver did is reckless and dangerous.

Furthermore, if cited by an observing officer, it’s arguably disobeying a traffic control device, subject to a fine of up to $165 before fees and possibly points on your driving record.

While roundabouts can be confusing, stopping in one, not to mention reversing, is never an option.
