What happens when an idiot pedestrian meets a reckless BMW driver.
Atlanta commuter and Redditor /u/KillerBlueWaffles shared some truly headshaking dashcam footage from downtown Atlanta from earlier this December (Dec 13, 2024) showing a careless pedestrian bolting into traffic against a red light only to get hit by a BMW driver trying to cut across a marked off lane.

The incident happened at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and Washington St. SW directly in front of Central Presbyterian Church (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he and other drivers are stopped in the middle of the intersection with a green light.
Suddenly, a pedestrian can be seen bolting across Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. between cars.
Unbeknownst to the pedestrian, a driver in a BMW is taking an opportunity to cut traffic by driving across a cross-hatched, closed-off part of Washington St. SW.
Not being able to stop in time, the pedestrian braces for impact, gets hit and ricochets off the BMW’s windshield.
To the BMW driver’s relief, the pedestrian doesn’t stick around and immediately continues on their way, seemingly uninjured.
The BMW can be seen stopping to take it all in, most likely shocked at what just played out.
“He (the pedestrian) looked embarrassed and ran off,” OP captioned his video.
“The driver in the BMW looked pretty upset, they sat there a while with their hazards on.”
“Beemer guy definitely was performing an illegal maneuver there to get through the intersection. And I don’t think he was embarrassed… Probably thanking his gods that the guy wasn’t hurt and consequently suing the shit out of him,” /u/0_ph*k commented.”
“Both deserved what they got. That’s not a lane,” /u/poor_non_blonde also pointed out.
For both involved, the pedestrian and the BMW driver, both thought they could pull off what looked like a harmless workaround.
This, however, proves, why the risks involved will never outweigh the minuscule time savings you might gain.
This easily could’ve turned out a whole lot worse.
But thankfully, everyone made it out mostly unscathed.
