A driver exiting this grocery store shopping center was not paying attention and inadvertently became a wrong-way driver.
Austin commuter and Redditor /u/Prestigious_Meat_246 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this January (Jan 6, 2025) showing a driver exiting an H-E-B only to drive into the wrong lane and into oncoming traffic.
Check out the moment the wrong-way driver confronts OP below.
[oc] On the way to work this morning. He honked at me, lol. NSFW for language at the end

The incident happened at the intersection of Parmer Lane and MOPAC in Austin (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s video shows, he’s stopped at the aforementioned intersection at 7 in the morning on a Monday.
In the distance, you can see drivers making a left out of the local H-E-B onto W Parmer.
At the tail end of the cars, one driver is not paying attention and turns in the wrong direction of traffic and to the left of the center divider.
As such, he’s on a collision course headed straight for OP.
OP gets the green light and drives forward, coming bumper-to-bumper with the wrong-way driver.
OP flashes his brights and honks at the driver, and the driver, stubbornly, returns in kind.
“You’re in the wrong lane buddy,” OP exclaims as he swings right to go around the driver.
In Texas, driving on the wrong side of the road is subject to a fine of up to $200 before fees.
“What a dumba**,” /u/Pr0066 aptly puts it.
“I made it a principle to pull up RIGHT in front of people doing this while I lived in VA(stupid common for some reason) and force them back and back and back. Unfortunately never a cop in sight >_<,” /u/Leftovertoenails shares.
“Why do these ultra-wide roads in America so rarely have a median?,” /u/Konsticraft asks.
In rural and suburban towns, it’s easy to get into a flow state driving the same roads, day in and day out.
When you become complacent, that’s the time when you need to remind yourself to be extra vigilant behind the wheel, that means paying attention to where you’re going.
