This dashcam owner left a gap so the driver in front of them could maneuver only to be taken advantage of by an opportunistic and impatient driver.
Presumed Houstonian and Redditor /u/Ca1ty_Becky shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Jan 16, 2025) from just outside Daikin Park showing an opportunistic idiot rudely cut a line of drivers waiting to enter the Congress St. parking garage.
Check out OP’s video embedded below with their original Reddit thread linked here.
As mentioned, the incident happened at the Congress St. Parking Garage on the Le Branch St. entrance (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is in line at the Congress St. Parking Garage at around 7:45 in the morning, waiting in a line of vehicles to enter.
As the beige Chevrolet Equinox in front of her enters, she pauses on the chance the driver will back up to retry their entry.
“It looked like the car (the Equinox) in front of me was going to back up to get in all the way. Of course, I left a gap there before trying to get closer.”
Suddenly, a driver in a green Chevrolet Blazer takes that gap as an opportunity to cut everyone in line, which they do.
In frustration, OP blows their horn at the driver.
“What the f*** are you doing? she exclaims.
“Dumb b****!”
Getting her way, the driver in the Blazer continues forward, successfully cutting everyone off.
“Sometimes there is an officer directing traffic that will stop people that try to do this and make them go around the block. Next time I catch it, I will post it on here,” OP clarified.
While there’s no specific violation for cutting in front, this particular driver arguably pulled an unsafe lane change, itself subject to a fine of $160 before fees.
“It should be legal to key this car,” the top comment from /u/WhitePetrolatum read.
“This has happened to me so many times. It’s why I pull closer to the car in front of me when waiting in lines. Never underestimate a car’s ability to cut you off with reckless abandon,” /u/joyevangeline added.
Not only is cutting a line of drivers rude, but it also increases the likelihood of an accident and the chance of road rage.
While most drivers don’t dare run the risk of getting caught damaging someone else’s car nor is it in their moral compass to take that kind of petty revenge, there are plenty of drivers that just might.
That’s something to keep in mind, too, if you’re in the habit of doing something like this.
