What started as a brake check on I-475 escalated to a road rage war that could’ve ended in a multi-vehicle collision.

Toledo commuter and Reddtior /u/DeployingPepperoni shared harrowing dashcam footage from I-475 from earlier in January (Jan 15, 2025) showing what started as a brake check between two trucks quickly escalate into a road rage incident that roped in an innocent driver, too.

Check out OP’s dashcam footage and original Reddit thread linked below.

[USA] Brake check to road rage.

The incident happened along I-475 in Toledo, OH (exact location on Google maps linked here.)

The footage starts with a driver in a maroon truck not actively passing in the left lane, brake-checking a driver in a red truck behind them.

This ticks off the driver in the red truck to no end and starts road raging back at the brake checker.

Out for revenge, the red truck speeds up in front of the original brake checker and boxes him in.

As the screenshot below, an innocent driver with a ladder can be seen getting roped into these drivers and their buffoonery.

The innocent driver roped in.

The maroon truck gets a taste of its own medicine and gets brake checked hard by the other driver.

Forced into the breakdown lane, the driver in the maroon truck squeezes by the driver in the red truck, thus ending the clip and the road rage incident.

“So who ended up having the smallest d*** here?” /u/Megatron_Griffin humoursly asks.

“I mean, the second road rager took it way, way too far, however… If you are on the left going slower than the traffic to the right and someone is following you too closely, you can just merge right instead of brake-checking your already slow lane,” /u/POEAWAY69NICE added.

“The rager shouldn’t have taken it this far even if his rage was totally justified but the actual worst people on the road are the people that feel entitled to control the speed of all traffic behind them.”

“Whole lotta a**holes in Toledo, crazy to see roads you drive every day on here,” /u/CaballoenPelo replied.

Road Rage is a form of reckless driving in Ohio with violaters subject to at least a $100 fine and possible jail time depending on if they’ve had previous traffic convictions in the past year.

And yes, Ohio does have left lane laws that state to keep right except to pass.
